Fiji Food and Drink
Dining in Fiji combines three main influences: the traditional Fijian dishes, the imported Indian cultural cuisine and the rest, made up of European and Asian ‘world’ foods found most anywhere. From wood fired pizza by the sea to lovo cooked dishes and fancy resort restaurants, you'll love the variety of Fijian dining flavours and atmospheres.
For an international holiday destination, Fiji is not big so big on nightlife however, except at the major resort regions like Denarau, Sigatoka and Suva city. Most sophisticated spots are within the resorts themselves. Outside the resorts, the nightclubs can get rather boisterous and most restaurants close before 10:00pm. Wherever it is, the local rum, kava and kalevi are worth a taste while on holidays in Fiji.

Back on Denarau the competition is hot and the Chantara Thai Restaurant is a firm favourite with guests of the Radisson Blu Resort as well as visitors who love the traditional Thai recipes like green and red meat curries from the aptly title ‘Phuket Menu’.
Kanavata Restaurant & Lounge
If awards mean anything, then the Kanavata Restaurant & Lounge at the Nanuku Auberge Resort Fiji in Pacific Harbour is worth attention. It picked up the coveted ‘Dining Experience Award’ at the 2016 ANZ Fiji Excellence In Tourism Awards where organically grown produce and fresh caught seafood feature.
IVI Restaurant
It seems the intimate IVI Restaurant at Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort can’t do anything wrong. The Coral Coast resort’s inhouse fine dining restaurant just keeps garnering accolades. For maximum romantic effect, the restaurant recommends only adults enjoy their acclaimed creative ‘Pacific Continental’ cuisine.
Laucala Island
It might take some getting to, but once you’ve found Red Bull baron Dietrich Mateschitz’s Laucala out beyond Vanua Levu, you won’t want to leave. Apart from some imported beef and dairy products, the majority of the produce comes from the island’s working farm.

For pure tradition and longevity, Sheraton’s Ports O'Call fine dining restaurant on Denarau should be on your shortlist. Patrons have been dressing up and lashing out at this international-standard establishment for nearly 30 years. If you long for traditional silver service and romantic ambience, this is for you.
Nadina Authentic Fijian Restaurant
If genuine Pacific-themed food is your objective, it’s hard to beat Nadina Authentic Fijian Restuarant located in the Port Denarau marina complex. You can even get a bowl of kava while you enjoy the sunset. Emphasis on seafood and vegetarian in a laid back Fijian ambiance.
Ed’s Bar
In Nadi, Ed’s Bar near the airport really gets rocking. A mixed local and international crowd come for the live music and a bit of good old fashioned ‘hanging out’ in one of the several spots inside the building. There’s a bit of a surf feel and pool tables.
Cloud 9
Floating out on the Mamanuca reefs is the novel Cloud 9 pontoon bar. It’s not for everyone and certainly favours a younger crowd, but for sheer tropical craziness, it’s worth a visit. It’s a swim-up cocktail bar with the biggest pool! Book a transfer at Denarau.
Baravi Bar
Located at recently renamed Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort near Sigatoka is Baravi Bar, one of several at the renovated resort. Situated by the pool, you’ll find the exotic island cocktail you’re after, a cool local beer, wine or snacks, plus a big flat-screen televisions for sports fans.
Bamboo Bar
The frequently-mentioned Bamboo Bar is located at Sigatoka’s sprawling and recently upgraded Mango Bay Resort if only for its happy hour drinks every night. You’ll find international beers, wines and vivid cocktails like mango daiquiris being enjoyed by a younger crowd.
Nuku Restaurant & Bar
Located at Denarau’s Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa, this is one of the best beach bar options with a classy setting and a perfect spot to enjoy an exquisite cocktail as the sun goes down. Happy hour happens twice a day.

If you are out on one of the several resorts on Malolo Island, then it’s easy to drop by the cute Musket Cove Yacht Club Island Bar. A bit of a hidden gem with reasonable prices, cheery service and a relaxed ‘castaway’ feel. Swim, drink, relax.
