When Australian influencer Amy Gerard and her husband Rhian sought a week-long escape from their bustling Sydney lives, they turned to Travel Associates advisor Tanya Von Konigsmark to curate a bespoke itinerary that blended relaxation with unique cultural experiences.
After a consult in our Mosman office, Tanya quickly understood Amy and Rhian's holiday vision: a balance of indulgence, culture, and a touch of the unexpected. Capella Singapore: A Tranquil Urban Retreat
Their adventure began with a Business Class flight onboard Singapore Airlines from Sydney to Singapore, followed by a short 30-minute transfer to Capella Singapore on Sentosa Island – a blissful sanctuary where they would spend the first two nights. Despite its proximity to the city, Capella feels worlds away.
Capella Singapore isn’t just a hotel; it’s a destination in itself. Whether you're en route to Europe or looking for a glamorous long weekend, it’s the ultimate stopover. Beyond the resort, Amy explored Singapore's vibrant culinary scene, visiting the Lau Pa Sat hawker centre for local delicacies, enjoying cocktails at Jigger & Pony, currently ranked the 5th best bar in the world, and sitting down to a beautifully curated dinner at Cloudstreet.

Sri Lanka: Unexpected Luxury
From the sleek cityscape of Singapore, Tanya’s itinerary led Amy and Rhian to Sri Lanka - a nearby gem catching the eye of luxury travellers, where wild landscapes, golden beaches, and jungle-backed safaris collide in all the right ways.
Tanya knew that Sri Lanka’s slower pace and unique cultural experiences would be an ideal match for Amy and Rhian, delivering exactly the kind of unexpected moments they wanted. The pair flew Business Class with Singapore Airlines from Singapore to Colombo (3h50m flight time), ready for the next leg of their adventure. Their Sri Lankan experience began with a night at the elegant UGA Riva in Negombo - a restored colonial manor offering intimate luxury and a peaceful introduction to the country.

Into the Wild: Safari at Wild Coast Tented Lodge
A safari might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Sri Lanka – which is exactly why the country fit the brief for the unexpected. Set on the edge of Yala National Park, Wild Coast Tented Lodge is not your average safari experience – it’s one of Sri Lanka’s most spectacular luxury lodges. Tanya selected this as a signature experience for Amy’s trip, offering all the thrill of safari with five-star comfort.
Following a private transfer to the lodge from UGA Riva, Amy and Rhian were shown to their Cocoon Suite at Wild Coast, a unique, design-forward accommodation that is just about camouflaged in the verdant jungle landscape (and a place they were ecstatic to call home for the next two nights). As part of the all-inclusive package, guests are treated to two game drives included in their stay – one morning and one evening – offering chance to see leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and an array of birdlife in their natural habitat. These game drives, through the stunning Yala National Park, were a highlight of Amy and Rhian's holiday.

Coastal Bliss at Cape Weligama
After their wildlife-filled adventure, Amy and Rhian were transferred by private vehicle to the southern coast for a final dose of indulgence at the breathtaking Cape Weligama, perched high above Weligama Beach. Tanya arranged for them to stay in a Master Suite, one of the resort’s oversized spaces, where privacy meets panoramic ocean views. With two nights to unwind, this portion of the journey was all about rest, relaxation, and refinement. From their villa’s private veranda to the infinity pool that seemingly melts into the horizon, every moment was designed for slowing down and soaking in the beauty.
After their rejuvenating stay at Cape Weligama, Amy and Rhian enjoyed a private transfer back to Colombo International Airport, where they boarded their Singapore Airlines Business Class flight back to Sydney via Singapore – the perfect end to a one-of-a-kind holiday that balanced adventure with absolute tranquillity.
